Temp Problem
« on: December 04, 2013, 07:33:48 PM »
Hi All
I have been recieving a little help from c1010010 and I have made some progress. The problem is I am currently facing is that my cards are running in the upper 80's and as high as 101 in some cases and the fans are at 100%. I am using a new R9 270 and 2 black edition XFX 3Gb cards. I am hoping that someone might have a solution or point me in the right direction. I think my config is the problem but I am all new to this
thanks

Just to echo my PM - airflow, airflow, airflow.

If you have a tight case or are in a closet or other small-ish room - you are pushing hot air back in to the fans.

Are you using a open-air frame?  Caseless?

This is what I'm running:

When it is not sitting up on the shelf getting ready for a picture, it has one box fan pushing air in the front, and one on top (horizontal) pulling the hot air up and out.

Truth is, the GPUs running at that temp means that they are working hard hashing away.  You just need to cool them down.

I made the adjustments you mentioned. They have helped. Thank you so much. I am using a Cooler Master HAF XB EVO without the sides or top. I have a few small case fans but obviously that is not enough. I got some box fans today so i will be moving it to my basement this weekend. Pity though, it kept my office pretty warm and it's winter here. I will post on my progress early next week.

c1010010's wife:  "Hun, why is the kitchen floor warm?"
c1010010: "Uh, computer stuff in the basement"
c1010010's wife:  "Hun, why is the electric bill so high?"
c1010010: "I'm keeping the house warm."
